For I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith as it is written The righteous shall live by faith.Romans 1:16-17I am not ashamed of the gospel. (v16) . . . Why?
BECAUSE THE GOSPEL IS ABOUT A UNIQUE PERSON (VV1-4)
a. His coming was promised in the Scriptures
b. He is God-Man
c. He was declared to be the Son of God with power by his resurrection
BECAUSE THE GOSPEL HAS SAVING POWER (VV16-17)
a. It exposes our desperate need for righteousness
b. It reveals the availability of a righteousness from God
c. It calls us to receive the gift of righteousness by faith
BECAUSE CALLING PEOPLE TO BELIEVE AND OBEY THE GOSPEL IS AN OBLIGATON AND A PRIVILEGE (VV5 9 14-17)
a. I am obligated (v14)
b. I am eager (v15)
c. I am not ashamed (v16)
