Description

Principle:
We recognise that the information age, despite its numerous advantages, also has detrimental effects on our pursuit of truth, meaningful relationships and overall physical & mental wellbeing. Therefore:
Instead of uncritical embrace, we practice great discernment.
Instead of unrestrained engagement, we practice great discipline

Habits:
Habit 5:
We commit to reading Scripture at the beginning and end of the day, rather than starting and ending our day with our devices.
Habit 6:
We commit to disengaging from screens of all kinds for one hour a day, and one day a month.

Verse:
Romans 12:1-2
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”

Prayer:
“God we recognise you as our ultimate authority, and your words as the ultimate source of truth in our lives. Help us to live wisely in our information world, be discerning in our engagement with media, and be connected deeply to the people you’ve placed in our care”

1. Embrace your limits (v.1)
2. Embrace your God (v.2)

Description

During these challenging times where there is a lot of a bad and troubling news bombarding us every day… police brutality, racial injustice, pandemic, economic depression, political instability – it’s enough to overwhelm us. In this context it is helpful to grasp the biblical practice of lament – were we can mourn and even complain before God about the loss of good things and at all the injustices in our world.

In this sermon, Pastor Richard encourages us to enter into all these experiences through honest lamenting before God.

Description

God Alone is worthy of the affections of our hearts. What a deeply convicting and encouraging word from Psalm 16 given by Pastor Dave Myburgh. All the promises of God are yes and Amen through Jesus Christ our Lord. Nothing in this world will ever satisfy, only He alone can fill that void. If you are in Christ you have already been given the greatest treasure in all of existence, being reconciled to God. Let us not worship the gifts but rather the gift giver for our treasure is Him and Him alone.
