The bystander effect: Why would a crowd on Palm Sunday be so behind Jesus but in a matter of days become a crowd shouting Crucify him? What do we learn about our own fickle hearts in the events as they unfold from Palm Sunday to Good Friday? Christ comes to shatter our shallow hopes & dash our idolatrous dreams. The staggering grace of God from eternity past is the grace that exposes and forgives our own fickleness as Christ dies on the cross at the hands of fickle people. May the resurrection be the fire that burns away wavering apathy replacing it with resolute stability in Him.
